Sustainable Value

Fluffle House Design has made a conscious determination to align with best practices and industry standards when sourcing the fabrics and materials for use in these creations. That is why we procure all natural fibers from suppliers practicing sustainable production techniques. As a result, the costs of these materials is greater than lower quality, offshore supply chain fabrics. But the look, the feel, the wearability and the longevity of these premium materials is vastly superior to the same design produced with low cost alternatives.

When a product is constructed with linen, cotton, flannel, corduroy or alpaca yarn, you can rest assured we have sourced the highest quality, often organic, materials available. We have established supply chain relationships with suppliers, some local, some remote, but all based in the United States or the UK (where many of the best linens are produced). Many of the embellishments and trims are curated from local estate sales, antique and vintage collections, and wherever we can, we confirm the material’s provenance and quality, before including in a design creation.

We also look for suppliers that are certified by several of the third party organizations that offer industry oversight in setting standards surrounding the labor practices, environmental considerations and production elements in the manufacturing of the raw materials used. For example, GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standards), OEKO-TEX, FairTrade America are all organizations whose certifications provide confidence and preference in our procurement process. Those certifications ensure our customers receive design products constructed of the highest quality materials, those materials manufactured under the most stringent standards for cleanliness, ethical labor practices and environmental considerations.

All of this continues our engagement with a recurring topic in these posts: There is intrinsic value created in these fashions through our selection of these premium suppliers, all who adhere to the lofty standards as outlined, in a concerted effort to foster improvement of the environment, of workers’ conditions and of a sustainable supply chain. This does have an impact on the cost of the raw materials, but it is a cost that is well worth it in the long run. The design considerations require the quality and our mission requires the adherence to our standards for sustainability, quality and ethical practices. This is our commitment to value and value is a multi-faceted metric. The price is part of the calculus, but we assert that the value far exceeds any price point listed. The joy and pride these designs deliver, really can’t be assigned a dollar amount because that value is priceless.
